My week; Variety is the ‘spice of life’ as they say!

My week;

It has been a very enjoyable and varied week. Variety is the ‘spice of life’ as they say!
Had a few evenings campaigning this week, surveying residents and hearing their views on local and national issues.

Work Experience
I have had three work experience young people who spent a week with me; and to be honest they were all fantastic. I set them different tasks and got them involved with writing press releases, helping to organise events, campaigning, attending meetings, through to planning ministerial visits.  I am sure that we will one day see them in parliament, polite, intelligent, hardworking and so very focused yet have empathy too. By the end of the week I was very proud of them all.

WW1 Morley Centenary
I attended another meeting for the WW1 Morley Centenary event.  There is so much to look forward to complete with our own decorated tram in Morley.
I have helped to put a website together for this; http://www.morleyww1.com/

Meeting with Businesses
I have being meeting with several businesses this week, including a brilliant social enterprise that have set up an innovative Wakefield business magazine called Topic. The enthusiasm of Gill is so infectious and I truly wish them well with this venture. Their website is; www.topicuk.co.uk

Visit to Outwood Academy with Minister Elizabeth Truss
Brilliant & inspiring visit to Outwood Grange Academy with Minister Elizabeth Truss. The school is leading the way with the new Mathematics Hub. The team has amazing energy and I was literally buzzing when I finished the visit. Education Minister Elizabeth Truss spoke about the Your Life campaign, which encourages more young people into maths and science.

Mid-Yorks Chamber Event
Today I had the pleasure of attending the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber event with MP’s Craig Whittaker MP (Calder Valley) and Jason McCartney MP (Colne Valley) and Minister Elizabeth Truss, we had the opportunity to meet with businesses and listen to their views and concerns, whilst putting forward our ideas.  Speaking to businesses there is a general feeling of optimism with many speaking of expansion and taking on new employees.

Sambuca
Friday night and a time to let my hair down with some local friends; whom I have met from Morley in the last year, plus old friends, colleagues and family. 32 of us went to Sambuca in Morley; great evening; great food; and wonderful company.

Tour de France
Hooray it is here, after much anticipation the day has finally arrived. Saw the event from both Leeds and Harrogate; Yorkshire and Proud; what a memorable day and well done to team Yorkshire for working hard to get this up here for us all to enjoy.
