Mike Penning, Disability Minister visits Wakefield
This afternoon we had Mike Penning the Minister for disabilities, met with Keith Orrell, the coordinator of Wakefield Support Group Parkinson’s UK. Mr. Orrell discussed the difficulties that Parkinson’s sufferers have to deal with and the support that the group offer. Andrea followed up on the concerns from yesterdays visit at the station with Mike Penning and discussed that we need better access for the disabled and those with pushchairs.
I believe it is absolutely vital that we support and help the groups such as Parkinsons UK, Keith is such a brilliant asset to the organisation. He is a sufferer of the disease and despite the difficulties that it brings, Keith works tirelessly to give support to those who struggle every day. A really poignant thing that Keith highlighted is the loneliness that a disease such as this can bring and how by working for the charity he himself has become more open and supportive.
