On Track: My Campaign For a Safer and More Accessible Morley Train Station
I’ve been campaigning to make Morley’s Train Station accessible for all since 2013, alongside passionate local pressure groups like the Friends of Morley Station.
This week, a huge milestone in that campaign has begun and work to make our Train station safer, cleaner, and more accessible will begin in the coming days. This exciting project should be finished by July 2023.
Morley Station will be completely re-designed with safer platforms, accessibility ramps, & lifts (on both platforms) allowing those with reduced mobility to use our station safely.
The Trans-Pennine Route Upgrade (TRU) has benefitted from £2 billion of Central Government funding, as part of this Government’s Integrated Rail Plan to improve connectivity across the North.
Not only will this make Morley’s station nicer to use for residents & visitors, it’s another example of delivering our levelling up commitments, making sure that our area can withstand the changes that the future has to offer.
Projects soon to be delivered by the Government’s £24.3 million Town Deal Fund will see improvements made to connectivity between the new accessible station and Morley’s Town Centre!
