ANDREA JENKYNS
Success: Andrea Campaigns to Protect Our Police
Residents may remember that, following discussions with the West Yorkshire Police Federation and local Police Officers, I recently wrote to the Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Priti Patel MP, to ask her to consider introducing minimum sentencing for those who attack our police forces.

I believe we need to protect those that protect us.
I am pleased to report that I have now received a response from the Minister of State for Crime, Policing and the Fire Service.
I welcome the news that the Home Secretary is proposing a police covenant, recognising the bravery and commitment of our officers who work so hard to keep us safe.
Further, I am pleased that both the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Justice have jointly written to the Chair of the Sentencing Council, encouraging the Council to consider assaults against emergency workers at the forefront of their upcoming review of the Assaults Guidelines.
