ANDREA JENKYNS
Stanley Community Centre Talks
Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Andrea Jenkyns, launched a campaign against Wakefield Council’s decision to put Stanley Community Centre out for tender earlier this year.
As the Council’s discussions have been developing Ms Jenkyns has criticised the lack of transparency in the talks, and has pressured the Council to “ensure that the local residents’ voice is heard”.
Following these interventions the Council have now agreed to form a link of communication between one of the main campaigners and the Council’s preferred bidder.
Ms Jenkyns commented on the situation: “The Council have not been considerate to local residents throughout their talks with bidders. The community centre is the heart of Stanley and belongs to the people of Stanley. I am glad that I have been able to assist the resident in starting to make contact with the bidder.”
