Today I am heading back to Parliament after another busy time back home in Yorkshire.
On Friday, I held my Health Fair in Morley Town Hall. I was so pleased to see so many residents attended and got the chance to speak with experts on a range of subjects. Stall holders included charities, local health and exercise groups, and other health-based organisations who gave advice and support on everything from physical health, healthy lifestyle choices, mental health, and long term & serious illnesses.
I was so pleased to be able to bring everybody together for an event that residents told me was “useful” and “informative”.
I got into politics following the death of my father in 2011 from MRSA and since then I have been committed to supporting and working to improve health services. Additionally, more help for mental health is a vital part of my plan for our local area, and I was pleased to see residents find out more about the support available to them for mental health on Friday.
Following this event I visited Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO), a fantastic organisation in our local area, to mark National Apprenticeship Week. I met some brilliant young apprentices and I feel sure their futures are very bright indeed!
After my visit to YPO, I held another of my regular surgeries on Friday evening. I was glad to be of help to residents and be able to offer support on a range of issues. If you ever have any problems that you feel I could be of assistance with, please do not hesitate to contact me on: Andrea.Jenkyns.MP@Parliament.UK
On Saturday I thoroughly enjoyed joining local volunteers to knock on doors and speak with residents in Lofthouse. It was a great opportunity to engage with constituents and hear their views, and was fantastic to speak with them about the issues that matter. Clifford also joined us!
We’re now entering another big week in British politics, please be assured I will continue to stand firm and stand up for the Brexit that our local area voted for. We must ensure the Government delivers Brexit in full and on time, and I will not vote for any deal that fails to deliver upon the referendum result.
I look forward to updating you on my work in Westminster at the end of the week.
