Today I wrote to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, about reviewing the restrictions in the West Yorkshire area.
The latest data shows good progress with case rates falling in our local area, and whilst I know there is still some work to be done to supress this virus I believe that restrictions must be proportionate if the public are to be expected to comply. The Government has committed to reviewing the data regularly to reassess the tier system. I have asked the Minister if he could outline what evidence, or review points, will be used to assess West Yorkshire, and what will allow us to move down the tiers towards greater freedoms.
