When I hold my first memory café in April 2018, I never expected it to become such a success. I was inspired by a group of volunteers holding a café in Drighlington's Methodist Church and organised with the help of the Alzheimer's Society. Since then, I hold it monthly in Outwood Memorial Hall and this morning I organised the Christmas edition. The memory café is organised to give people with dementia and their carers a safe space to talk and enjoy time together with fun activities. We sang Christmas song, played bingo and had mince pies and Christmas cake! It was wonderful to see the happy faces of all those attending and I hope to keep the tradition going in the next year. I would like to thank our regulars and the volunteers for their invaluable help.
