Andrea Jenkyns' constituency update

Many activities for all in Morley and Outwood this weekend starting with the Annual Schools’ Music Festival to be held in the Alexandra Hall, Morley Town Hall later on this morning (website link at the bottom of this post).

Two coffee mornings in the area today also with Wrenthorpe Methodist Church holding their monthly community coffee morning from 10am to noon, raising funds for The Sanctuary Project, a new mother and baby unit, and Outwood Parkside Methodist holding their coffee morning from 10am to 11.30am to raise funds for Outwood Grange’s rugby trip.
Wrenthorpe Environmental Society are Litter Picking in the area from 10am to noon and this evening Morley Music Society is performing a concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘HMS Pinafore’ at 7.30pm at the Church of the Nazarene in Morley.

Shadowed by the tragic events in London, Andrea's views on this horrific and heart-breaking attack you can see here, there have been some developments in both the planning application at Lane Side Farm and the one at Second Avenue, Newton Hill this week.

As for Lane Side Farm, despite 917 objections from the community as well as all the efforts from both local councillors and Andrea in opposing the application, Leeds City Council’s Planning Panel failed to listen to the community and they have recommended the application is approved by the Chief Planning Officer. All political parties including the Conservatives as well as the local Morley Borough Independents opposed this application which was passed by Labour councillors. Andrea is extremely disappointed by the Council’s decision.

Also this week, following Andrea's petition to the Council objecting to the development at Second Avenue, Newton Hill, Wakefield Council have opened the application for comments until 21st April 2017 as new information has now been submitted by the developers. While some concerns have been addressed, Andrea wanted to highlight that the overall the principle of development with access from Second Avenue remains unchanged. The planning department have confirmed that there is no need to repeat concerns that have already been raised but new concerns or comments are welcome.

Andrea's weekly surgeries continue with my team visiting a different village of the constituency every week so if you would like to book yourself in please do so by following Alternatively, the office continues to be open Monday to Saturday so please feel free to pop in or call in on 01133 450 380.

Finally, the Stanley Community Centre petition continues to be open as is the petition to save Drighlington from the proposed 179 dwellings. Both petitions will be closing by the end of this month so if you would like to add your name there is still time.
