This morning, I chaired a webinar organised by the Westminster Media Forum, titled "The UK's Music sector - copyright and policy developments, education and careers, investment and live music, and future trading relationships." This policy conference was due to take place in London, but because of lockdown, it was moved online. Covid-19 has proven to be a big challenge for a sector which heavily relies on live performances and it was good to hear the experiences of teachers, students and industry leaders. As a former music teacher myself and as a professional singer, I am aware of the importance of music to develop students future lives, their mental health and as a vehicle for social mobility. I was familiar with many of the issues raised by the UK's music sector, and I will make sure that the Government will hear the voice of the creative industry.
