My Six Point Plan

This is my six point plan to secure a better future for Morley and Outwood. The six points of my plan are; to create more jobs, give local businesses the support they need, give people a real say on planning and development, take action to improve local NHS services, get more funding for our schools and make sure the council fixes the roads.

ACTION TO KEEP UNEMPLOYMENT IN MORLEY AND OUTWOOD DOWN, AND CREATE MORE JOBS LOCALLY. I organised the Morley & Outwood Jobs and Skills Fair which was attended by more than 300 people, to promote the jobs and apprenticeships available at local firms to jobseekers. As your MP, I would continue to fight for jobs and opportunities for Morley & Outwood.

FIGHTING FOR A FAIR SHARE OF FUNDING FOR MORLEY AND OUTWOOD’S LOCAL SCHOOLS. Schools in Morley & Outwood have received an extra £8.6 million since 2011 through the Pupil Premium, supporting disadvantaged students the most. As your MP, I would campaign for all schools around Morley & Outwood to have their fair share of funding.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES, SMALL AND LARGE, THEY ARE THE BACKBONE OF OUR ECONOMY. I started the Morley & Outwood Business Association to champion local business and brought senior Government Ministers to meet them. As your MP, I would continue to back local firms and campaign for investment in the area.

BUILDING MORE HOMES, BUT PROTECTING OUR GREENBELT TOO. I have raised local planning concerns at the highest levels of Government and brought planning ministers to the area. As your MP I would ensure development in Morley & Outwood is of the type and scale acceptable to local people.

ACTION IS NEEDED TO IMPROVE STANDARDS AND CHOICE IN OUR NHS. I’ve campaigned for better standards at Pinderfields Hospital as a trustee of MRSA action. From visits to the GP to specialist treatments, as your MP, I would fight to ensure local people get the healthcare you deserve.

IMPROVING THE STATE OF THE ROADS SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY. The Government announced £2,517,082 of extra funding to tackle potholes in the Leeds Council area and £1,107,163 in Wakefield. I started Morley & Outwood Pothole Patrol to get the council to take action on issues you report in Morley & Outwood.
