ANDREA JENKYNS
Discussing the future of Morley and Outwood with Eric Pickles

Campaigners have been given the chance to tell a senior Government minister about their concerns for the future of Morley and Outwood.

Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government had a private meeting with Morley and Outwood Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate Andrea Jenkyns, councillor Robert Finnigan and Jim Aveyard from Morley Against Reckless Construction (MARC) to discuss plans for the area.

The campaigners have concerns about Leeds Council’s Local Development Framework (LDF) planning proposals and the proposed Cottingley Springs Travellers expansion.

Miss Jenkyns, who organised the meeting, said the Mr Pickles, the former leader of Bradford Council, had listened carefully to the concerns.

“I was very keen for the campaigners to have their concerns heard at the very highest level as the way Morley and Outwood will look in the future is at stake with these plans,” she said. “We have grave concerns about the infrastructure on Morley and Outwood, such as roads, schools and healthcare, if the current proposals were to go ahead in their current format. “We are very grateful to Eric for allowing us the time to see and to hear our worries and he assured us he would be looking carefully at the issues as all the proposals develop.”
