I am pleased that the Government has announced a scheme to reverse some of the historic Beeching cuts. Following an RestoreYourRailway event held in Parliament that I attended, and conversations with Residents, I am keen to support this local campaign to restore East Ardsley Railway Station.
East Ardsley had a railway station from 1857 to 1964, and was located near what is now Scampston Drive. Whilst the original site may be unworkable due to the addition of new homes, the area still has space and capacity for a station to be re-opened in this area.
This would help the large numbers in our area who commute to both Leeds, Wakefield, and even London by helping to alleviate the congestion at peak times, and of course will mean lower emissions which will help protect our environment,
Please sign the petition below if you agree with me, and residents, that we should re-open this station!
