Recently, I had the pleasure to visit Morley based business, Morley Glass, to find out all about their new Green Vision Fund and hear from Ian Short, Managing Director, about each of the fantastic initiatives which have already been funded by this philanthropic endeavour.
This innovative community project sees the very best of a business giving back to its local community, through a fund of over £30,000. Now, this is where schools, nurseries, community, and 3rd sector groups come in. All are invited to apply to Morley Glass for Green Vision Funding of up to £500.
The fund is financed, in its entirety, by Morley Glass and their green business credentials. Through an innovative recycling scheme, old glass (once bound for landfill) is returned, recycled, and reused. Thanks to this sustainable approach, Morley Glass has been able to launch this scheme and are donating 100% of the profits from this endeavour to the Green Vision Fund.
So far, 10 fantastic community projects have received funding, including projects at the CATCH Centre in Harehills, a Brighouse based school, and local Scout and Brownie troops. Projects have raged from green community gardens, nature reserves, and wildflower meadows to insect homes, Hedgehog houses, and allotments. One school transformed a small part of their playground into a community food garden, giving students the opportunity to get green and grow.
In conjunction with Morley Glass, I’ll be launching an annual ‘Keen to be Green’ award, with awards going to the best use of Green Vision Funding. I’d love to visit each of the projects to see the ways in which schools, community groups, and charity initiatives have used their funding and to hear from those involved about the process.
You can find more information about the scheme here: https://www.morleyglass.co.uk/glass-recycling-leeds/ and apply for a grant by emailing your ideas to: email@example.com. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the type of projects already funded by the Green Vision Fund please do not hesitate to contact Morley Glass.
