ANDREA JENKYNS
Andrea visits Gildersome Cubs’ Camp

Morley MP Andrea Jenkyns visited local cubs and beavers at the annual camp in Morley. The 4th Gildersome Cub Pack and Beaver Colony, both junior branches of the Scouting movement, held their annual camp at the Phoenix District Scout Camp Site on Nepshaw Lane, Morley. Andrea called in to visit the Cubs, Beavers, and their leaders on Saturday afternoon, taking the opportunity to join in their activities and learn about their organisation in our area. The South Leeds and Morley Scouting District, which includes the Cubs and Beavers from Gildersome, is made up of over 650 young people and more than 100 adult volunteers. The Scouting movement provides a wide variety of outdoor and indoor activities for young people, from the age of six to eighteen; with a strong focus on personal development, responsibility and leadership. Andrea said “It was fantastic to meet members of Gildersome Cubs and Beavers, the young people and their leaders made me feel very welcome. They let me join in their crafts and outdoor activities, though it will take a bit of practice before I can beat the Cubs on the archery range. The work that leaders like Anna and Chris do to make it all happen is unbelievable. They are all volunteers and they do so much to develop and look after the young people who join, they are truly an asset to our community.” The 4th Gildersome Cub Pack and Beaver Colony, both junior branches of the Scouting movement, held their annual camp at the Phoenix District Scout Camp Site on Nepshaw Lane, Morley.
