Andrea Praises YPO & Amazon Deal

I have learned of the recent agreement reached between the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO) and Amazon Business for a five-years digital marketplace contract. This is fantastic news for all the workers and the clients of YPO and takes the company in a different dimension. This agreement demonstrates the ambition of YPO to innovate the public procurement sector and will surely lead to better practices from Amazon on working conditions. The ethical employment agreement signed in consultation with the local branch of Unison indicates this commitment. The Digital Service Tax announced by the Government will also make sure that online giants pay their fair share, preventing unfair competition with high street competitors.

YPO has proven over the years how to be an innovative, entrepreneurial business owned by the public sector, offering value for money to taxpayers and service users and, now, earning money from Amazon and putting it in the public sector. I am proud to have them in my constituency and that they supply many local authorities in Yorkshire and around the country.
